Family dining
Lunchtime is a time for our children to interact with one another and to enjoy a sociable lunch.
In line with our R.E.S.P.E.C.T. curriculum, it is important to us that our children are taught good table manners and encouraged to try different foods. Lunchtime should be an enjoyable time for our pupils.
Our school lunches are provided by Taylor Shaw and prepared and cooked from fresh produce on the premises everyday. We are committed to encouraging healthy eating.
At Briscoe Lane Academy, the cost of school lunches is £13.00 per week. Universal Free School Meals were introduced in September 2014. Pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes are now entitled to a free school lunch. Anyone who is entitled to free school meals MUST still apply for them as the Government is only paying for meals where there isn’t an entitlement to free school meals.
Packed lunches
We ask that packed lunches are balanced and healthy. See the leaflet in the download links for some great lunchbox ideas!
Medical diet
If your child requires a medical diet due to a diagnosed food allergy, diagnosed food intolerance or a medical condition requiring an adapted menu (e.g. carbohydrate count for Type 1 Diabetes), please follow the link to the left of this text to request a medical diet. For further support, please refer to the following document: ‘Medical Diet Menus – A Guide for Parents, Guardians & Carers’.
All medical diet requests must be supported with medical evidence. This must be in the form of a letter which clearly outlines your child’s food allergies/ intolerances, and must be from a medical Doctor, Dietitian or Specialist Nurse.
Kindly note, you DO NOT need to make a request for dietary preferences, or for the following diets: vegan, pescatarian, vegetarian or halal, as these requirements can be met through our standard menu.
