Year 2 had a fantastic time at the Fire Museum in Rochdale to coincide with our topic this term of Samuel Pepys and the diary he kept about the Great Fire of London. The children were able to recount a huge amount of facts and information to the former fire officers in the education centre. The children got to try on various helmets and jackets used over the years in the Fire Brigade and look at fire engines, ranging from horse drawn carts to the latest fire engines.
Year 2 are learning all about Samuel Pepys and the diary he kept. His first hand account of the Bubonic Plague in 1665 (Black Death) and The Great fire of London in 1666 was brought to life today thanks to Yellow Brick Road Workshop. The children had a fantastic time learning new facts and sharing what they already knew.
Year 1 had a fabulous time visiting Chester Zoo on Tuesday. They have been focusing on The Lion King this term and thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the animals in the zoo. The weather was not at its best for them but everybody had a lovely time. We are not sure who enjoyed themselves more, the wonderful teaching team in Year 1 or the children!
Team UP is a new branch on our Wise Owl tree where we are busy thinking up new ways to motivate, encourage and support our children to become the best they can be- both in our classrooms and at our brand new, purpose built hub. You might see Mr Royle and Commandos Bryn and Andy around school in their new Team UP uniforms!
