Reception Newsletter.

This term our topic is fairy tales. In literacy we will be looking closely at describing characters and settings. Children will be re-telling the story in their own words using appropriate story language from the books. We have introduced the high 5 hand which is a visual aid encouraging children to write sentences independently and applying capital letters, finger spaces, full stops, magical words and reading their work so it makes sense. The children are responding very well to this. Furthermore we will be looking at the lifecycle of living things and showing care and concern for living things in the environment.

In maths we will using our taught maths skills to solve problems such as: doubling, halving, addition, subtraction and sharing in groups of 2’s, 5’s And 10’s. We will also re-cap 3D shapes involving describing their properties.

General Information

As the weather improves we ask that you send children to school with sun hats and sun cream. We ask that jumpers are fully labelled with their name as children will take them off during hot weather. Please remember that we can never predict the English weather so children must always bring a coat/jacket to school.

Thanks for your continued support
