This term, Year 2 will be learning all about the Queen as part of their RESPECT curriculum. We will be looking at the Queen's role as a monarch and her life as a daughter, wife and mother. We are very excited to discover a wealth of knowledge about the Queen and her many roles and learning all about how many countries are part of the Commonwealth. Children will be planning a coronation party and enjoying baking their own produce for the party. Children will undertake the Queen missions weekly in which they will have the opportunity to display and develop all values of the RESPECT curriculum, particularly teamwork, resilience, communication and self-awareness.
Spellings are given out on a Monday morning each week and should be practised for 10 minutes each day. A spelling test takes place every Friday.
Homework is given out on a Tuesday and should be completed and brought back to school by the following Monday. In addition to Maths and English, children will be provided with a homework menu for their adventurer. This provides children with an opportunity to undertake a variety of homework challenges all related to their explorer, the Queen. Last term, Children were very engaged with their homework menu and enjoyed taking part in all the different challenges.
