Reception have started their minibeast topic this week by going on an hunt around school following the clues left by the hungry caterpillar. We then read 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' book together looking at the pictures and making predictions about what we think will happen next. In maths we have been practising our number recognition and counting out amounts by giving the hungry caterpillar the right amount of food. We also got some fantastic caterpillars made by the children for their homework.

Following on from  'The Very Hungry Caterpillar book we have moved into a non fiction book about the life cycle of a butterfly. We have been able to order the life cycle on our own and used our drama skills to act out the life cycle of a butterfly. In maths we started to look at shapes and created our own shape songs to help us remember the properties of the shapes.

Wb 3.10.16

This week reception have been looking at a new book call 'Spider Sandwiches'. The teachers discovered a disgusting sandwich in the kitchen. It had eyeballs, spiders and lots more disgusting things. We also developed our knowledge of shapes through a variety of exciting activities.
